Idahoans have a new place for adventures, no matter the weather outside.
This week's 'Idaho Adventure' takes us to the newest climbing gym in the Treasure Valley, Vertical View.
The brand-new facility is the Treasure Valley's largest climbing gym and is located just off the freeway in Meridian.
The world-class facility features four stories of climbing with walls as high as 65 feet, the tallest in the Northwest.
The climbing gym includes everything from top rope, lead climbing, to bouldering. At Vertical View, climbing is a family sport, there's something for all ages.
People who climb know that it provides a great workout, it’s both mentally and physically challenging.
"It's a challenge,” says Aaron Dill from Emmett, “there's a lot of mental game there, as you get higher and higher the fear sets in and so it's a chance to work on myself, work against that, work through it."
Heather Slaughter from Nampa says, "It's just challenging, and it's also exhilarating, I have been working on my strength training the last couple of years and so being able to really focus it into something and apply it on the wall is really fun."
In addition to the main climbing gym, Vertical View offers yoga and hot yoga studios, full cardio and weightlifting area, and a separate kid climbing wall or party room that you can rent out.
Climbing gear is available for rent or purchase if you don’t have any, this is definitely an adventure worth checking out.
