The theatrical trailer of Raghava Lawrence’s upcoming horror sequel Chandramukhi 2, directed by P. Vasu, is out this Sunday afternoon and it promises a spine-chilling thriller but appears to be a bit underwhelming as the story follows a familiar template lacking the wow factor.
The three-minute trailer introduces all important characters in the film and gives a glimpse of the sinister bungalow around which the entire story revolves. Raghava Lawrence plays King Vettayain who takes on Chandramukhi played by Kangana Ranaut. Like the first part, the sequel will have a good dose of entertainment, drama, action and romance. The makers seem to banking heavily on these elements even though it is a horror thriller.
Once again, the eerie happenings in the South-block room of the bungalow where Chandramukhi resides drive the narrative forward. Kangana Ranaut looks like a perfect choice to replace Jyothika from the first part, but Lawrence is no match to the screen presence of Rajinikanth who carried the entire film on his shoulders. It all depends on how well Lawrence pulls off the role of King Vettayain.
Vadivelu’s histrionics will tickle the funny bone. Rao Ramesh and Radhika Sharat Kumar appear in prominent roles in the film.
Tunesmith MM Keeravani renders pulsating score to keep the viewers on the edge of the seats. The cinematography is impressive and the production values are top-notch.
Produced by Lyca Productions Subaskaran, Chandramukhi 2 is slated for release on September 15th.
