Gregory T. Amarantos has been practicing Podiatric Medicine and Surgery since 1983. Dr. Amarantos is a graduate of Loyola University of Chicago and received his DPM degree from the William Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine. He was residency trained at Thorek Hospital.
Dr. Amarantos is the Chief of the Podiatry Section and the Podiatric Residency director of Swedish Covenant Hospital. Dr. Amarantos is also on the staff of NorthShore University and Northwestern Lake Forest Hospitals and Board Certified in Foot and Ankle Surgery and a Fellow of the American College of Foot & Ankle Surgeons. He is the past president of the Illinois Podiatric Medical Association and serves on the Podiatry Licensing Board of the Illinois Department of Professional Regulation.
Dr. Amarantos knew he wanted to be a podiatrist ever since he had a positive experience with his former podiatrist and mentor. He quickly came to realize that a patient will walk in with pain and more often than not, they are walking out feeling better almost immediately. His specialties are the treatment of heel pain, bunions, laser therapy, ingrown toenails, and overall foot pain.
Dr. Amarantos enjoys getting to know each patient as a person and not just as a patient. He exercises regularly and in his free time reads history and biographies, plays golf, cheers for both the White Sox and Cubs (while suffering through the Bears season), and spends time with his wife and three children.
